Springwood Community Kindergarten offers a high quality Kindergarten program to children in the year prior to attending Prep. Children enjoy the stability of the same group of children and staff members each day they attend for five days per fortnight in a school-based environment.

Children attend either Borobi Group: Monday, Tuesday and alternate Wednesdays or Wongari Group: Thursday, Friday and alternate Wednesdays. Program hours run from 8:45 am to 2:45 pm. You can place your child on our wait list from birth.

Waitlist Policy

Kindy age requirements

Your child must be 4 years old by June 30 to participate in a kindergarten program. The Queensland Government provides information on enrolment eligibility or using the Kindy Age Calculator.

How to Enrol

1. Download the Wait List Application Form. Alternatively, you can telephone the Centre and we will email you a copy. Please note: Our waiting list is open for all years.

2. Complete the form and return to the Centre.

3. There is a non-refundable $10 application fee that is payable when you submit your application form. This fee can be paid by cash or Direct deposit. See below for direct deposit details. 

4. If you are enrolling multiple children in one session, only one fee of $10.00 is required.

5. The names on the waiting list are kept in chronological order on receipt of applications, together with the non-refundable $10.00 fee. 

6. Springwood Community Kindergarten does not have a sibling policy, meaning siblings must be enrolled as per the wait list policy and are offered a place depending on their number on the list. 

7. There are 44 places available each year, 22 children in each group.

8. Places are automatically reserved for children opting for a second kindy year in consultation with their teacher.

Enrolment Notification Process

Families of children offered a place will be contacted from July/August onwards in the year before their child is due to attend. If your child may need special assistance, please notify the Centre so that planning can occur to best support the needs of your child.

Fees for 2021

 QKFS Plus Kindy Support $10.66/ day Payable per term - **please see QKFS Plus Kindy Support below for eligibility

 Portfolio fee     $ 30.00/ year Payable with attendance fees

Fees are $44.00 per day for 2021 or $4430.00 per annum, including the portfolio fee.

**If you are eligible for QKFS Plus Kindy Support fees are reduced to $10.66 a day or $1066.00 per annum, including the portfolio fee.

Shows and visitors to the Centre are included in the fees, although staff may plan excursions at a minimal cost to families. Committee may decide to run fundraisers if necessary e.g. Bunnings sausage sizzle.

**QKFS Plus Kindy Support

QKFS Plus Kindy Support provides low cost kindy to eligible families. Please note it does not fully cover the full fees. 

The subsidised amount for 2021 is $3364.00. This leaves an out of pocket expense of $1066.00 for the year

You will be eligible if you:

  • hold a current Australian Government Health Care Card (or have a child who does)
  • are a foster family with a current Australian Government Health Care Card
  • identify as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander (or have a child who does)
  • have 3 or more children, of the same age, enrolled in the same year.

The subsidy is provided directly to your service provider to reduce your out of pocket expenses. (Your provider must be an approved kindergarten program provider, which we are) and you can only claim this at one facility.
