Springwood Community Kindergarten offers a high quality kindergaten progran to children in the year prior ti attending Prep. Children enjoy the stability of the same group of children and staff members each day they attend for five days per fortnight in a school-based environment.

Children attend either Group 1: Monday, Tuesday and alternate Wednesdays or Group 2: Thursday, Friday and alternate Wednesdays. Program hours run from 8:45 am to 2:45 pm. You can enrol your your child at our kindy from birth.

Kindy age requirements

Your child must be 4 years old by June 30 to participate in a kindergarten program. The Queensland Government provides information on enrolment eligibility or using the Kindy Age Calculator.

Waitlist Policy

1. Download the Wait List Application Form. Alternatively, you can telephone the centre and we will post or email you a copy.***Please note: Our waiting list is open for all years and while there are currently no vacancies for 2019, you are welcome to put your child's name on our waiting list in case a vacancy becomes available.

2. Complete the form and return to the centre.

3. There is a non-refundable $10 application fee that is payable when you submit your application form. This fee can be paid by Cheque or cash / Direct deposit. See below for direct deposit details. 

4. If you are enrolling multiple children in one session, only one fee of $10.00 is required.

5. The names on the waiting list are kept in chronological order on receipt of applications, together with the non-refundable $10.00 fee. 

6. Springwood Community Kindergarten does not have a sibling policy, meaning siblings must be enrolled as per the wait list policy and are offered a place depending on their number on the list. 

7. There are 44 places available each year, 22 children in each group.

8. Places are automatically reserved for children opting for a second kindy year in consultation with their teacher.

Enrolment Notification Process

Families of children offered a place will be contacted from July/August onwards in the year before their child is due to attend. If your child may need special assistance, please notify the centre so that planning can occur to best support the needs of your child.

Our 2019 Statement of Fees is available. Fees are $39.00 per day for 2019 or $3900.00 per annum.

Our 2020 Statement of Fees is available. Fees are $42.00 per day for 2020 or $4200.00 per annum.

Shows and visitors to the Centre are included in the fees, although staff may plan excursions at a minimal cost to families. Committee may decide to run fundraisers if necessary e.g. Bunnings sausage sizzle.

QKFS Plus Kindy Support

QKFS Plus Kindy Support provides low cost kindy to eligible families. Please note it does not fully cover the full fees. 

 The subsidised amount payable for the year for 2019 is $724.00, and $934.00 for 2020. This amount is broken into 4 term payments of $181.00 and $233.50 respectively.

You will be eligible if you:

  • hold a current Australian Government Health Care Card (or have a child who does)
  • are a foster family with a current Australian Government Health Care Card
  • identify as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander (or have a child who does)
  • have 3 or more children, of the same age, enrolled in the same year.

The subsidy is provided directly to your service provider to reduce your out of pocket expenses. (Your provider must be an approved kindergarten program provider, which we are).
