Our Program‎ > ‎

Music is a way of knowing. As children engage with music rich early learning environments that include singing, listening, moving and playing instruments, they are building skills in a variety of learning and development areas.

Engagement with music helps children to speak more clearly, develop a larger vocabulary, and strengthen social and emotional skills. This is because music has the ability to strengthen the connection between the body and brain to work together as a team. For instance, when dancing and moving to music children are developing motor skills, while singing they are required to use working memory to recall song words and identify patterns of language and using instruments helps to develop small hand muscles that are used for drawing and writing.

At Springwood Kindy, music forms a key component of our program with children having the opportunity to engage in daily music experiences and musical play.
